 Don’t forget the blouse/shirt must be pressed. Your shirt does show under a jacket.
 Shoes should be shined and in good condition. No sandals or open-toed shoes.
 Do not chew gum.
 Hair should be neat.
 Fingernails must be cleaned.
 No cologne or perfume.
 No smoking prior to the interview.
 A portfolio or handbag should be neatly arranged.
 No under garments should be in view.
 Cell phones must be turned off. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES answer a ringing phone.
 Makeup should be professional and moderate.

 Do not arrive more than five minutes early, and, of course, never ever be late.
 Introduce yourself and call the interviewer by name, once, at the end of the interview.
 Express yourself clearly by being prepared and keep eye contact.
 Project confidence in yourself and enthusiasm about the job.
 Never be critical of a former supervisor or firm.
 Thank the interviewer for their time, and let them know you want the job.

| Do not dominate the conversation, but don’t be a passive spectator either. |
| Prior to your interview review the firm’s website. The interviewer will be impressed by your knowledge of the firm. |
| Ask the interviewer for his or her opinion of the requirements, and the expectations for the position. Try to get some idea of the value of this position from the interviewer’s point of view. Also, ask the interviewer to describe the most important skills and attributes that the job will require. |
